Project Terry Tha Rapman
Terry was born into a household where music was part of daily life and lays credit for his early musical influences with Bob Marley, Fela Anikulapo – Kuti, Bongos Ikwe, Michael Jackson, LL Cool J, Rakim and Big Daddy Kane. His rap music was driven by the harsh environs he grew up in and he has continued to develop his style, brand and personality which is evident today in his music, drive and dedication to spinning out hot tracks.
He recordedd his first demo tracks in his late teens after spending time developing his mixing, beatmaking and implementation skills with a friend who was a disc jockey. He went on to build a worthy reputation within the Kaduna rap underground and continued to build on this after relocating to Jos in 2000.
He was signed by Payback Tyme Records and recorded two albums as part of a group known as SWAT ROOT moving on to sign with November Records where he delivered his first solo debut album which won him nominations for Best Rap Album at the Hip Hop World Awards and Nigerian Music Awards in 2007, he then went on to Independent label Megaphunk where he released an album l”Boys are Not Smiling” last year. One of his tracks “Sample” Featuring Pheroshuwz and Stereoman went on to win an award as Best Rap single at the Hip Hop World Awards in 2010.
